A dim sum challenge can be very difficult for a chef not accustomed to designing a dish, preparing it, and then wheeling it around the room at lunch time, as Chef Casey Thompson can attest. While her dish of chicken feet with scallion pancake was definitely dim sum-influenced, the execution of the dish just wasn't authentic enough for the demanding audience of Chinese diners and the judges.
Like most of her competition, Chef Casey Thompson finished close to the top in her original season of Top Chef. This season she was cut far too early. All Top Chef is sorry to see her leave.

Poor Casey! She was the victim of her fellow contestants lack of care. She took the high road and served everyone else's dishes ... the least they could have done was prepare it as she asked. I'd be ashamed if I was in the kitchen and didn't take care of her dish. In my eyes, that's not playing fair. I'm sure none of them would have liked it if she rolled the cart out and dumped their food in the potted plants. Chef Casey is a class act and I was sorry to see her go.
