While risotto was a winning dish for Chef Wilcox in his original season, it did him no favors this time around. The judges did not like the texture, claiming it wasn't runny enough, and they felt his vegetable garnish was overkill. Possibly it was a fine risotto-type dish for a different challenge, but it just didn't work for something that needed to have a more authentic Italian feel.
We're so sorry to see the "Black Italian" sent off so soon in this competition, as he was a sentimental favorite. All of us at ATC wish him great fortune in his future endeavors.
